Initio Oud Greatness Fragrance Oil
Initio Oud Greatness Fragrance Oil
Initio Oud Greatness Fragrance Oil opens with the glowing spice of saffron and nutmeg, softened by the aromatic freshness of lavender. At the heart, agarwood (oud) brings depth and intensity, giving the fragrance its dark, resinous, opulent character. As it dries down, patchouli and musk create a warm, sensual finish that feels smooth, powerful and refined.
Fragrance Profile
-
Top Notes: Saffron, Nutmeg and Lavender
-
Heart Notes: Agarwood
-
Base Notes: Patchouli and Musk.
Uses:
1. Fine fragrance
This type of oil is very well suited to perfumes because the deep woody and musky notes usually give good longevity.
EDP / Parfum in perfumer’s alcohol
-
Typical starting level: 15–25% fragrance oil in the finished perfume
-
Let it macerate for 2–4 weeks
-
Chill and filter if needed for clarity
This style works especially well as:
-
Evening perfumes
-
Luxury masculine or unisex scents
-
Autumn / winter fragrances
-
Premium oud ranges
Body mists / lighter sprays
-
Typical level: 3–8%
-
Gives a lighter, more wearable version of the scent
Because this is a heavier profile, even a body mist can still smell fairly rich.
2. Personal care products
Body lotion / cream / body butter
-
Typical level: 0.3–1.5%
This fragrance profile works nicely in:
-
Men’s or unisex body lotions
-
Luxury hand and body creams
-
Premium after-bath moisturisers
The warm musk/oud base tends to linger well on skin.
Shower gel / body wash / hand wash
-
Typical level: 0.5–3%
-
Great for luxury shower products and dark, opulent collections
This sort of fragrance often gives a “spa-luxury / niche perfume” feel in body wash.
Shampoo / hair products
-
Typical level: 0.2–1.0%
-
Can work well in beard wash, men’s shampoo, or premium hair masks
Bar soap / syndet bars
-
Typical level: 1–4%
-
Oud, patchouli and amber notes usually survive well in soap compared with lighter citrus scents
This kind of fragrance is often a strong performer in:
-
artisan soap
-
men’s grooming bars
-
luxury black / charcoal / resin-themed soaps
3. Home fragrance
This is one of the best uses for this type of scent profile.
Oud-heavy oils often perform very well in home fragrance because the deep woody and musky notes usually have good throw.
Candles
-
Typical level: 6–10% fragrance oil in wax
-
Cure for 24–72 hours minimum
-
Test wick size carefully, especially with soy or coco blends
This scent profile is ideal for:
-
luxury candles
-
masculine or unisex home fragrance
-
hotel / lounge / evening mood scents
Wax melts
-
Typical level: 8–12%
-
Great in wax melts because the warm oud/amber base usually throws strongly
Reed diffusers
-
Typical level: 15–25% fragrance oil in diffuser base
-
Often works very well in premium diffuser ranges
Because the scent is heavy and resinous, it can give a deep, expensive-smelling room scent.
Room sprays
-
Typical level: 1–5% in an appropriate spray base
-
Very good for dark, luxurious room fragrances
This style is especially suited to:
-
hallways
-
bedrooms
-
lounges
-
hotel-style sprays
-
boutique / premium room scent collections
4. Oil-based perfumes and attar-style products
This fragrance profile is particularly good for oil perfumes because oud, patchouli and amber notes sit very well in slower-evaporating carriers.
Roll-on perfume oils
-
Typical level: 10–30% depending on the strength and IFRA limit
-
Carrier options often include DPG, TEC blends, or cosmetic perfume-oil carriers
This kind of format suits the fragrance extremely well because it enhances the rich, long-lasting, intimate side of the scent.
Anhydrous body oils
-
Typical fragrance level: 0.2–1.0% or as permitted
-
Can work beautifully in premium body oils and beard oils if the fragrance is approved for that use
5. Bath and novelty products
Bath bombs / bath salts
-
Typical level: 0.5–2%
-
Gives a very luxurious, warm scent profile
Beard care / grooming products
-
Beard balms, beard oils, beard washes
-
Usually used at lower levels depending on product type and IFRA category
This is a very good profile for:
-
men’s grooming ranges
-
premium beard oils
-
oud-themed barber products
Good product pairings
This fragrance works especially well in:
-
black or deep-coloured candles
-
gold / bronze / amber-themed branding
-
luxury masculine collections
-
premium oud bodycare
-
winter and evening fragrance ranges
It also layers well with:
-
saffron
-
rose
-
sandalwood
